Definition
The carrier’s or forwarder’s notification that a shipment has arrived and is ready for clearance and collection.
An arrival notice is sent to the consignee (and notify party) as the shipment approaches or reaches the destination port or airport. It lists the cargo, vessel or flight details, charges due, and the documents needed to take delivery.
It is the trigger for the consignee to arrange customs clearance, pay outstanding charges, and obtain a delivery order. Acting promptly on the arrival notice is key to avoiding demurrage and detention.
